Jude LaCava, Fox 10 News Sports Anchor – Emcee 2/2/12 Event First Half

The Emcee for the first half of the program at the WUFC Arizona Centennial Cancer Research Fundraiser will be Jude LaCava, Fox 10 News Sportscaster. This event will be held at the Arizona Biltmore, 2400 E. Missouri in Phoenix, Arizona 85016 on Thursday February 2, 2012 from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm.  Bring your friends and help raise money for two Arizona-based Cancer Research Programs: 1.) Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, collaboratively with Arizona State University under the direction of Robert Waters PhD and
2.) The University of Arizona Cancer Center natural product research program directed byDr. Leslie Gunatilaka.

FOX 10 Sports Anchor

Jude LaCava joined FOX 10 in 1993. He is the sports anchor for FOX 10 News, and hosts “FOX 10 SportsNight” on Sunday nights.

Prior to coming to FOX 10, Jude hosted the “620 Sportsline” on KTAR. He has won numerous journalism awards, including two Emmy awards and numerous Associated Press honors. LaCava was the Suns analyst during the 92-93 season, he was also the original voice of the Arizona Rattlers in their initial season in 1992.

Jude was a high school all-league basketball player and played at Baldwin-Wallace College where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He earned a postgraduate degree from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia.

Jude is actively involved in Arizona charity work, including the Italian American Federation; he is a past president of the Heather Farr Foundation, which aids in the fight against breast cancer; and is the spokesman for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Jude’s sister, Sandy LaCava founded the Dorothy Foundation. Below is the Dorothy Foundation Mission Statement:

The Dorothy Foundation is dedicated to seeking out and providing funding for the most progressive and yet scientifically promising research in the fight against cancer. Our mission is founded on the idea that we are not getting there fast enough. This fight against cancer has been waged for more than 40 years, and the cure still eludes us. There is no excuse. With the help of our scientific advisory board, we want to aid those scientists following their creative genius working on cutting edge cancer research, those scientists looking for a protocol that does not break down a patient’s immune system or cause irrevocable damage to healthy tissue and organs. Great strides have been made in diagnostics and chemotherapy treatments, and yet everyday thousands die from cancer and we sadly find these current treatments are not always enough.
The goal of the foundation is to raise money through our various affiliates and fundraising venues so as to award a grant or grants to worthy recipients on an annual basis. As an independent non-profit we are not associated with one medical center or hospital, and we will search worldwide for that research group which demonstrates the most promise for
a true cancer destroying or preventing mechanism. Our advisory board consists of men and women in medicine, physiology, bio-medical engineering etc. We feel strongly that this cross section of professionals gives us the diverse intellectual perspective to think and consider options outside the box. It is time for all of us to think critically and creatively in this fight against cancer. We are capable of so much and we owe it to our families, friends and loved ones who have fought this disease before us, to bring this disease to rest.
